If the result of the municipal election is declared before the polling of Nagarpalika, District Panchayat, Taluka Panchayat, then the effect of the result will be on the election to be held later. This decision could affect the free and fair election process and is likely to affect voters. It should be decided to hold the counting on the same day so that free and fair elections are possible.

The State Election Commission (SEC) has said an average 46.08 per cent turnout was registered during voting which was held between 7 am and 6 pm on Sunday.Ahmedabad recorded the lowest turnout of 42.51 per cent, while Jamnagar saw the highest turnout of 53.38 per cent, followed by 50.72 per cent in Rajkot, 49.46 per cent in Bhavnagar, 47.84 per cent in Vadodara and 47.14 per cent in Surat.

The State Election Commission had submitted that since 2005, the counting of votes in local body elections in the state has been done in two phases. If we keep counting of votes on the same date in the state, we have to have a very large staff. Officers find it inconvenient to keep an eye on every place. Usually 14 tables are kept in a single room for counting of votes. Only 7 tables will be arranged in the room due to Kovid. The petitioner has not provided any strong reasons or evidence for damages to keep the counting of votes on different dates.

The State Election Commission has announced the schedule for local body elections in the state in which polling for the municipal elections will be held on February 21 and counting of votes will be conducted on February 23. Voting for the municipal elections will take place on February 28 and counting will take place on March 2. This is how the vote will be counted now that the verdict has come.
